Personal Post – Dawn till Dusk in the City of Love

Well, today is a little bit special. It’s my blog’s 1st Birthday! I think it’s come a long way since my first post on the 16th September 2011, or maybe it’s just that I have, both as a photographer and wordpress blogger?

So I decided there was no better way to celebrate than with a bumper post. And where else but from but my recent trip to Paris. It was my first visit and it was a bit of a last minute thing really. I had planned to camp around the wild places in Scotland for 10 days, but about 1 week before I left, the winds howling outside my bedroom I had a whimsical thought…wouldn’t it be lovely to head to Paris instead? It would certainly be warmer (maybe a touch too warm!), there would be strong coffee (and yummy pastries :) and since returning from Africa I have had a burning desire to explore more of Europe.  Possibly most importantly I wanted a place where I could truly and utterly indulge my photographic passion! Paris would be perfect!!!

Click, click, click…no not the camera shutter quite yet…that was the keyboard…booked!!! :)

So whilst Parisians leave the city of love in hoards during the month of August, to escape the heat and humidity…I was all packed and set for a 6 day adventure…and the beginning of a new love affair…with this city!

So without further ado, here’s my photographic journal of my time in Paris. I know there are a LOT of pictures of a certain tower, but I hope you will indulge me…as I spent most nights lying underneath the Eiffel Tower completely mesmerised. So the numbers are relative, but I really hope you enjoy my birthday blog. Oh and please do drop by and leave a comment/critique or whatever…it’s just so lovely when you do :)

It’s also a good time to say a HUGE thank you to YOU, who have clicked, shared and supported me over the last year. Thank you! Here’s to the next year, Jacqui x

If you got this far….Thank you again! So there it is, my dawn till dusk (ok dark!) visual record of my first time in this incredible city. It certainly won’t be my last :) I will finish this blog with a quote that a good friend gave me back in February and which has really inspired my on journey this year….let’s see what the next year will bring!

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back – concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never have otherwise occurred.

A whole system of events issued from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man (or woman ;) could have dreamed would have come his way.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.

Boldness has genius, power and magic to it.

Begin it Now!”

Johnann Wolfgang von Goethe

And so it is, Jacqui xxx

Hi Jacqui – remember me saying that the one word that comes to mind when I think of you is “Photographer!” … well, these pictures just go to prove that you indeed are a photographer … a brilliant one! I absolutely LOVE the night shots … the last one being my favourite. Makes me want to click on my own keyboard and book a flight. Fabulous.
